Glebe 13-8-86 def North Ryde/Parramatta 8-10-58.
Glebe has won its first ever under 16s premiership, beating North Ryde-Parramatta by 28 points in the North Shore Association Grand Final at Macquarie University.
The Greyhounds led all the way, winning 13.8-86 to 8.10-58. The victory reversed the major semi final when Glebe was well beaten by the Goanna/Dockers combination. The big Macquarie Uni ground suited the free flowing style of Glenn Fowler’s Greyhounds and they used its vast expanses to their advantage.
Whilst the Greyhounds normally rely on rep players Joey Britton and Michael Trent for much of their scoring, today that pair defended stoutly and most of the points came from James West with 4 goals, and 2 each to Geordie Hawkins, Rhys Lindsay and Sam Goldsworthy.
The move of Chris Bolt to CHB was a decisive one and he was outstanding, along with Cameron McKenzie and Blake Malcolm in the defensive zone.
It was a great way for many of the Glebe boys to end their junior careers at the club. Some of them have played for the club since their Auskick days.
Well done Greyhounds.
