Greyhounds Win U16s Premiership

Glebe 13-8-86  def North Ryde/Parramatta  8-10-58.

Glebe has won its first ever under 16s premiership, beating North Ryde-Parramatta by 28 points in the North Shore Association Grand Final at Macquarie University.

The Greyhounds led all the way, winning 13.8-86 to 8.10-58. The victory reversed the major semi final when Glebe was well beaten by the Goanna/Dockers combination. The big Macquarie Uni ground suited the free flowing style of Glenn Fowler’s Greyhounds and they used its vast expanses to their advantage.

Whilst the Greyhounds normally rely on rep players Joey Britton and Michael Trent for much of their scoring, today that pair defended stoutly and most of the points came from James West with 4 goals, and 2 each to Geordie Hawkins, Rhys Lindsay and Sam Goldsworthy.

The move of Chris Bolt to CHB was a decisive one and he was outstanding, along with Cameron McKenzie and Blake Malcolm in the defensive zone.

It was a great way for many of the Glebe boys to end their junior careers at the club. Some of them have played for the club since their Auskick days.

Well done Greyhounds.

Greyhounds Grand Finals Action

After last week’s preliminary finals Glebe JAFC has 2 teams in this weekend’s grand finals - the 13s and 16s. Unfortunately the 12s were eliminated by a very strong East Sydney lineup after a brave display that almost brought off a mighty victory. Well done boys.

The 13s scored a great come-from-behind win against Maroubra. They will play Wests on Saturday at Alan Davidson at 2.30pm in the grand final.

In the 16s preliminary final, Glebe kicked a last second point to draw with Easts, before running away with the game in extra time. Their opponent in this week’s grand final is North Ryde-Parramatta on Sunday at Macquarie University at 3.00pm.

All members, parents and friends are encouraged to come out and support the Greyhounds in their ultimate games of the season. A large and loud crowd behind them can really spur the boys on. They’ve worked hard and achieved this season, so they deserve our support.
Go you Greyhounds. See you there.
