Ways to Play
At Glebe there really is a way for everyone to enjoy Australian football, whether you’re four, fourteen or just after a social run-around. We’re proud to offer a fun, safe and welcoming environment. Junior footy is about making friends as much as learning the game.
From the non-contact fun of Auskick for our youngest players, through Junior Footy and full-field Youth Footy, to dedicated Youth Girls teams and our inclusive AFL 9s program, each pathway is tailored to the age and ability of every child.
We emphasise inclusivity and community for kids of all backgrounds, we believe there’s a place and a pathway for every player and family here—no matter how you choose to play.
Auskick (U5 - U7)
Auskick is a safe, inclusive and exciting introduction to Australian Rules Football. Kids learn the basics—kicking, marking, handballing—through fun activities and mini‑games. Each level follows a structured combination of age‑appropriate drills designed to be delivered over two (or more) years of participation.

Junior Footy (U8 - U10)
Our U8–U10 program bridges the gap between Auskick and Junior Footy. Players learn to play in positions, stay in zones and work as a team while still keeping things fun and inclusive. This level builds confidence by gradually introducing contact and structured games.

Junior Footy (U11 - U13)
This age group plays “real footy” with full tackling (but no sling tackles) and bigger fields. It’s where game sense, teamwork and positional play really take off. While scores and ladders may be kept, the emphasis remains on development, fair play and having a great time.

Youth Footy (U14 - U17)
Youth Footy is full‑sized AFL with full rules. It’s fast-paced, physical and highly rewarding, focusing on personal growth, resilience and advanced skills. Players train hard, form lifelong friendships and, for those who wish, begin their journey toward representative football.
